Two externship sites have added positions for the Fall 2019 semester and are now available for application.
Judge Philip Calabrese, with the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, is accepting applications from students. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your research and writing skills while learning about the judicial process and the Court.
In addition, Brookfield Properties (formerly Forest City Realty Trust, Inc.) is looking for a qualified applicant for a legal externship opportunity in the Legal Department of our Cleveland office for the Fall Session. The extern will provide support with any tasks as assigned by litigation, administrative advocacy, and other legal advocacy regarding Brookfield Properties’ Multifamily portfolio. Some examples of matters that externs will assist with include:
- Defense of litigation and administrative claims against the rental housing communities across America (class action, fair housing, consumer, etc.
- Compliance stewardship in areas such as fair housing, landlord-tenant, and environmental law
- Daily “counselor at law” guidance to corporate, regional, and onsite employees and research on pertinent legal issues employees face in managing residential communities
