Are you an upper-level student interested in a Spring 2018 Judicial Externship? The application process starts on Monday!

Prepare now by submitting your pre-application (click the link on the right-side of your home page on Career Connect). Then, schedule a brief meeting (in person or by phone) in the Office of Career Planning. Once that meeting is conducted, you’ll be able to apply through CareerConnect when the posting opens on Monday. You will need a resume, writing sample, unofficial transcript, and the judicial externship application form. (The one-page form will be available through the job posting on Monday.)

A judicial externship is a wonderful way to fine-tune your legal skills. During Judicial Externships, externs are integrated into the work of the Judge’s chambers: writing bench memos, drafting opinions, researching issues during trials, observing settlement conferences and mediations.  Students also have the opportunity to observe proceedings in the courthouse which may include trials, sentencing hearings or oral arguments.

For more information on externships, review the Handbook and watch this brief video.
